Poland’s energy ministry published retail fuel price caps for 21 October 2026. The maximum for 95-octane petrol is PLN 6.70 per litre.

Wednesday’s maximum prices

The cap for 98-octane petrol is PLN 7.43, while diesel is capped at PLN 7.98 per litre. These are ceilings, rather than national average pump prices; a station may charge less.

A 40-litre calculation

Our calculation for 40 litres gives PLN 268 for regular petrol, PLN 297.20 for premium petrol and PLN 319.20 for diesel. It excludes discounts and additional purchases.

Check the effective date

When comparing notices, check the date on which the prices apply. A notice may be published before its rates take effect.

Comparison with 15 October: what is the difference?

We compared two dated ministry notices for the same fuel grades. The 95-petrol ceiling fell from PLN 7.01 to 6.70 per litre, a difference of PLN 0.31. At 40 litres, the difference between those ceilings is PLN 12.40.

For 98 petrol, the change from PLN 7.83 to 7.43 is PLN 0.40 per litre, or PLN 16 for 40 litres. Diesel changed from PLN 8.05 to 7.98, giving differences of PLN 0.07 per litre and PLN 2.80 for 40 litres.

Method: subtract the 15 October rate from the 21 October rate and multiply the difference by 40. This compares administrative ceilings on two dates. It is not a survey of pump prices or a guaranteed saving for an individual driver.
